Deadhead or Driftwood

Changing the philosphies of our present day may be the subtle current that sweeps us up into demonstrations and sometimes torrent discussions. What are the thought patterns; accepted realities that bind our society? Which patterns are fluid and which are fixed?
As a child we daydream and remain fluid in our projections. Is it true, that we are more easily able to swim with the currents that are prevailing when we are children than when we start to age? Aging seems to be a destination as our own limiting thoughts or beliefs take up residence in what was once continually shape shifting. Our mind and bodies become like deadheads unable to join the swirling movement of energy all around. When does the pivitol point of dislodging the roots happen? When do the roots release their grip, so the tree can flow with the river? The ultimate sacrifice for the transformation begins as the deadhead sticks out of the water menacingly, while in its own good time, releases the hold and becomes gentle, turning itself into driftwood bobbing along, and finally becoming the art piece that is loved just for its own beauty; the result of a beautiful journey.
Ethics and morals are often discussed, but what are the underlying philosphies that we hold onto; that keep us from moving out of the same old eddy and into the rushing water? What are the roots of our beleifs that we hold desperately onto? What would happen if we looked directly at those? What could possibly happen? That is the discussion I wish to have.
I love the way many visionaries of our times are considering these questions and really reaching out of comfort zones and into the dark swirling void for answers that lie deep at our existence. The mind is a marvelous place when it is ignited by the Divine and Mysterious. This is the space of learning; a space for creating. Change is the perpetual momentum here and all energies are felt as fluid; so the task, if any, becomes noticing where one's attention is focussed. Watching the sparks of creative energy can be a fulltime pastime.
From this vantage point, philosophies seem closely linked to physics. I would love to ask children, before they conform to morals, how they know art and science, philosphy and physics. My sense is that they may know intrinsically how these relate. I believe there are clues from what children naturally agree to in their experience and what they are most challenged to accept from adults. To avoid getting mired in semantics, as we consider our core philosophies, it may be as simple as asking the children where to start. Intellect does not appear to me to be the driving force behind the "Arab Spring", but a unified agreement to see the world as a better place does. Youth is in touch with what keeps them in the flow and ever changing. Intelligent interfacing with creativity to say the proverbial "YES".  Each unified answer has the power of the Universe within it to move forward. Unity is the philosophy of our day.
