a Koan for my friend

"Two hands clap and make a sound. What is the sound of one hand?"

  1. I also like this statement as it is what I instinctively live by..."One of the most common recorded comments by a teacher on a disciple's answer is: "Even though that is true, if you do not know it yourself, it does you no good." The master is not looking for a specific answer but for evidence that the disciple has grasped the state of mind expressed by the kōan itself."
It's all in one's experience otherwise it means nothing...intellect can not stand alone. Intellect and wisdom are two different animals. Being clever is not the same as being smart....in my humble experience.
